ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed — individuals and families who work but still struggle to make ends meet. In Pennsylvania, ALICE households represent 41% of the population. These households include those living below the poverty line, as well as those who earn above the poverty threshold but still can’t afford the basic cost of living in their community.
United Way is dedicated to advocating and innovating solutions for ALICE households, helping them overcome barriers and achieve financial stability.
Project Blueprint: Building Inclusive Leadership
Lancaster County’s nonprofit boards and committees often do not reflect the diversity of the populations they serve. Project Blueprint is a program that trains underrepresented community members to take a seat at the decision-making table. It also works with organizations to address inequities at the leadership level, helping them become more inclusive and welcoming to diverse board members.
Through this initiative, we aim to create policies that truly represent the communities they impact and foster systemic change that allows all members of our community to thrive.
